The “Stone Gate” at Fort Benning, Georgia.

Here’s an outstanding conversation on “The War Room,” which is a podcast put out by the U.S. Army War College. The host is Ron Granieri, a professor of history at the War College. His guest is Lt. Colonel Vianesa Vargas, USAF, a student in the War College Class of 2020, which graduated on 5 June 2020.

Lt. Col. Vargas spoke about her thesis, titled “Jim Crow Lives: Army Posts as Racist Symbol.” Lt. Col. Vargas won the General Matthew B. Ridgway Writing Award for her thesis.
