Photo Forensics: Richmond, 1865

Here’s Ranger Mike Gorman discussing photographs of Richmond in 1865.  This is the second presentation from Day One of the 16th Annual Longwood University Civil War Seminar.  The video’s description reads, “Michael Gorman talked about Richmond, Virginia, in 1865 and what historians could learn from photographs from the period.

“ ‘Photo Forensics: Richmond, 1865’ was a session of the 16th annual Longwood University Civil War Seminar. The seminar took place from March 13-15, 2015, at the Jarman Auditorium on the Campus of Longwood University in Farmville, Virginia.”

It’s a pretty good presentation, but I think he missed his target objective a little bit.  He talked about what he thought was cool about the photographs, but he didn’t tell us a lot about what was actually learned from them.  He did some of that, but not much at all.  Still, overall it was a good presentation.

Very good, very good. I had never seen most of the pictures he showed. Always enjoy learning something new.
