Colonial and Civil War Christmas Traditions

Merry Christmas.

This is Brad Stone, a docent at the Clara Barton’s Missing Soldiers Office Museum, discussing Christmas traditions in the Civil War.

The video’s description reads, “Museum docent Brad Stone presented this festive look at Christmas traditions from the Colonial Era through the Civil War. Mr. Stone, dressed as a patriotic Santa depicted in an 1863 cartoon drawn by Thomas Nast, also talked about the political role of Christmas in America. The Clara Barton Missing Soldiers Office Museum hosted the event.”
