Sherman’s March and American Memory

Here’s Professor Anne Sarah Rubin of the University of Maryland Baltimore County talking about William T. Sherman’s March to the Sea and how it has been remembered. This excellent presentation was part of this past summer’s symposium at Pamplin Park which featured a slate of all women historians.

The video’s description reads, “Author Anne Sarah Rubin talked about her book, Through the Heart of Dixie: Sherman’s March and American Memory. She described the path of Union General Sherman’s march through part of the Confederate states but argues that it has been often misunderstood and, at times, overstated for the destruction caused. Pamplin Historical Park in Virginia hosted this talk.”
