Here’s Professor David Blight giving a lecture on Frederick Douglass and his legacy. It’s a typical Professor Blight lecture that meanders around, with the listener wondering where he’s going, and then him finally bringing it home. It has several good points to it, though.
The video’s description reads, “David Blight is the Class of 1954 Professor of American History and the Director of the Gilder Lehrman Center for the Study of Slavery, Resistance, and Abolition at Yale University. Blight is the author of the upcoming biography ‘Frederick Douglass: Prophet of Freedom.’ Blight’s presentation ‘Many Lives in One: The Legacies of Frederick Douglass,’ is part of the day-long symposium ‘Why Douglass Matters,’ hosted by Linfield College’s Frederick Douglass Forum on Law, Rights, and Justice. Douglass Forum activities are made possible by the generous support of the Elliot Alexander Fund for Political Science and the Jack Miller Center.”
