Abraham Lincoln and Abolitionists

Here’s Stanley Harrold talking about Lincoln and his relationship to abolitionists. I found a few things in here with which I disagree. He seems to be saying in places that Lincoln really wasn’t antislavery, and that’s certainly wrong. This was at the 2018 Abraham Lincoln Institute symposium at Ford’s Theatre, held March 17, 2018.

The video’s description reads, “Stanley Harrold, author of Lincoln and the Abolitionists, talked about the 16th president at a day-long symposium on Abraham Lincoln’s life, career & legacy. The Abraham Lincoln Institute & Ford’s Theatre Society co-host.”

The video begins with Zachery Fry, who received the Hay-Nicolay Dissertation Prize, giving a short presentation that I thought was pretty well done.
