Commemorating Post-Civil War Reconstruction in National Parks

Here’s a panel discussion on the commemoration of Reconstruction by the National Park Service, and how Beaufort, South Carolina was chosen as the site of the Reconstruction Era National Monument.

The video’s description reads, “Historians talked about the challenges of interpreting the post-Civil War period in the national parks and about the first Reconstruction-era monument in Beaufort, South Carolina.”
