Context of Civil War Monuments and Memorials

Here’s Timothy Sedore of Bronx Community College giving a presentation at the American Civil War Museum’s 2017 Symposium held at the Library of Virginia in Richmond, VA. The presentation gives the context of Civil War monuments and memorials.

The video’s description reads, “Timothy Sedore, author of An Illustrated Guide to Virginia’s Civil War Monuments and forthcoming works on Tennessee and Mississippi monuments, talked about contrasts and comparisons of the wide range of Civil War monuments in those three states. ‘Words, Breath, Text and Landscape: Virginia Civil War Monuments in the Context of Tennessee and Mississippi Monumentation’ was part of the American Civil War Museum’s 2017 annual symposium, ‘Lightning Rods of Controversy: Civil War Monuments Past, Present, and Future.’ It was co-sponsored by the John L.
