Harriet Tubman’s Life and Legacy

Here’s Professor Catherine Clinton delivering a lecture at the University of Mary Washington about Harriet Tubman, based on her biography of Tubman. This is an excellent presentation.

The video’s description reads, “Catherine Clinton talked about her book, Harriet Tubman: The Road to Freedom. She spoke about Harriet Tubman’s escape from slavery, her role as a conductor on the Underground Railroad, and her life after the Civil War. Ms. Clinton also talked about what she argues are historical misconceptions about Harriet Tubman and addressed her renewed popularity in recent decades, culminating in the announcement that Ms. Tubman would be featured on the U.S. twenty dollar bill”
