Abraham Lincoln and Emancipation

This is Professor Edna Greene Medford of Howard University giving a presentation based on her book, Abraham Lincoln and Emancipation, part of the “Concise Lincoln Library” series. This presentation was part of the Abraham Lincoln Institute/Ford’s Theatre Symposium held at Ford’s Theatre on March 19, 2016.

While the first presentation of the day was a disappointment, this presentation was outstanding. It has cogent historical analysis and places Lincoln’s actions in historical context.

The video’s description says, ” ‘Undeclared Partners for Freedom: Lincoln, African Americans and the Emancipation Struggle’ was part of the Abraham Lincoln Institute’s 19th annual symposium on ‘The Latest in Lincoln Scholarship.’ Co-sponsored by the Ford’s Theatre Society and the Illinois State Society of Washington, D.C., it was held at Ford’s Theatre.”
