The Facing History project produced a really outstanding set of videos on Reconstruction. You can access them here. There are seven videos in total, an introduction and six parts, each one averaging about 14 or 15 minutes in length. The total time to view the videos is about one hour, forty-one minutes.
The website also has additional references for more information. It’s absolutely perfect for teachers. Each video can be used in a classroom with plenty of time for discussion or additional learning. It’s really well done, with commentary from leading scholars that provides accurate information for students.
In my opinion, with few exceptions we all need to know more about Reconstruction. It’s an area that’s neglected with much misinformation surrounding it.
