Lee’s Retreat: A History and Field Guide

This thin book by Chris Calkins is perfect to take with you on a driving tour of Lee’s route of retreat from the Richmond/Petersburg trenches to Appomattox Court House. With detailed driving directions, photographs, and superb maps by Steve Stanley, the book is what you need to accompany you on such a tour. It’s easy to handle and has information regarding each stop, telling you what you’re looking at and what happened there.  It’s also continuously updated on the Civil War Traveler website, so no matter when you go, after a visit to the website you can make sure this guidebook remains current. It’s really well done.
