Today, July 31, is World Ranger Day, a day set aside to honor park rangers around the world who were injured or killed in the line of duty.
Please take a moment to reflect and appreciate folks like this guy:
Roy Sullivan holds the Guinness World Record for number of times struck by lightning and surviving.
I urge you to get to a national park or national historic site and shake a ranger’s hand as soon as you can. I’m going tomorrow. Park Service Rangers who help protect our natural and cultural resources and who help us to understand our history and our heritage are themselves national treasures.
And please remember these rangers around the world who gave their lives in the performance of their duty:
