Slavery Depictions in Cinema

Here’s a panel discussion from the Society of Civil War Historians’ 2014 meeting in Baltimore, Maryland.  The video description tells us, “Panelists talked about the evolution of slavery as depicted in film since the 1930s. They spoke about how filmmakers have framed the idea of slavery, how portrayals of race relations and gender have changed, and how slave characters have shifted from the background to leading roles.”
